A Sock and a Half

I think this yarn thing is addictive.  I started off trying crochet because I found a cool slipper pattern.  Now, I’m learning to knit:  dishcloths, hats, mittens…socks!?!?  Yes, I’m knitting socks.  I just can’t help myself.  They’re not done, and they’re certainly not perfect, but here’s the progress so far:

The socks are taking way longer than any of the other projects I’ve done.  Because of the thin yarn combined with the tiny needles, it takes many stitches to make any progress at all.  Luckily I spend two hours a week waiting while the girls have gymnastics class, so I should be able to finish them before summer is here.

The kids think it’s funny to watch me knit, Hubby says I look like a grandma.  Gee, thanks!  The other day, E-boy found a ball of yarn and some knitting needles and gave it a go himself:

They look great! I’ve made socks a few times and they do take a long time.

I just started knitting a few months ago and ran across the same types of comments from my husband and daughter. They think it’s hilarious to call me grandma. 🙂

THey look perfect to me!! I have never been able to knit because no matter what I do i pull the stiches too tight, and can’t manage to get more than 2 rows on. Is it just hte yarn that you are using that is making that great starrry looking pattern? So pretty!!

They are looking great. You are now in trouble they are truly addicting. I’m ready to start on my fourth pair but there going to be anklets so they should go quicker. It really is starting to interfere with my quilting.Happy knitting.

My husband tells me the same thing. Apparently knitting makes me an old lady 🙂 And then he goes and begs for a scarf! ha! I found your wallet tutorial after I had made my first wallet and was so sad I didn’t have the tutorial to help me through! My wallets are a bit different, but along the same lines. I actually did a tutorial for BurdaStyle upon request but yours is fabulous! Have a great week!
